Relaxing Activities in Romania

If you are in search of a cool holiday this winter, then you may want to consider skiing in Romania. Ski tours could easily be organized on the Carpathian Mountains around the Transylvania region. Predeal, Poiana Brasov and Sinaia are ski resort centers that are most commonly known. Accommodation is provided in hotels and guesthouses that offer traditional Romanian food in their restaurants. As you enjoy the slopes it would be a good thing to discover a few places like the medieval Towns of Sighisoara, Peles Palace, Brasov, etc. with a private tour.

The touristic ski resort known as Poiana Brasov was established in 1895. It is situated about 12km away from Brasov, which is only a few minutes drive. In 1951 this area hosted the Winter Universities International Olympic Games. The ski slopes are numerous and are graded according to difficulty level; from beginners to professional levels. These skiing zones also incorporate downhill, slalom runs and also an Olympic run. The ski school, situated at the center of the resort, gives great training sessions in both German and English. Specialized skiers and snowboard lovers will have a lot of fun with runs like the Wolf run which is about 3 km in length. The town has a huge number of cool hotels as well as good traditional restaurants.

King Carl decided to brand Sinaia, the Pearl of the Carpathians, a summer residence. When you visit this place you will quickly conclude that the Peles Palace is an architecture that could aptly fall under the German Renaissance masterpiece category as it contains a huge collection of arms from the medieval period. Sinaia is located at the Prahova Valley surrounded by mountains specifically below the Bucegi Mountains. This happens to be a popular tourist town that has attracted many a visitor for many years now and it also serves as a winter destination for snow-based activities with its good slopes.

Other people would rather not spend time at a resort town. However there is a better option which is Brasov, a medieval Transylvanian city. Brasov is situated 30 minutes (by car) away from the 3 main skiing hills in the Prahova Valley namely; Predeal (the highest Romanian town, with a 1033 meters altitude), Sinaia and Poiana Brasov. It is possible to arrange for your daily movement to and from the skiing sites. As such, it would be wise to consider getting a winter/ski package if you plan to spend time in the Transylvanian Town of Brasov

As you have a good time viewing the hills, it may interest you to take a tour guide. You would want to visit Dracula's very much disputed residence, as well as other very popular tourist sites such as the Black Church and the First Romanian School, the Historic Medieval City of Brasov, the Bran Castle and so much more. You may also want to spend some of your time in the city. You may also get lucky to meet, or request for an Organ Concert in the Black Church during the evening periods. You could also be interested in touring Sighisoara (birthplace of Dracula) for a whole day. The Sighisoara citadel has an air of ancientness as not much has changed within the fortress. You may also be tempted to visit other places like; Sinaia Monastery, Peles Palace, the sparkling wine tasting site in Azuga and the Saxon Church fortresses in Transylvania (Harman and Prejmer).

You could adjust your tour to your personal taste. With a personalized tour package that suits your needs, you could have a lot of fun on the ski hills of Romania. Romania is the perfect place for a less costly winter holiday.
